A substitute teacher and coach at a Long Beach high school was arrested this week after being accused of raping a teen student.
On Thursday, July 24, Long Beach police officers apprehended Gabriel Vigil at his house.
Vigil’s arrest follows a report from a student earlier this month. According to the LBPD, a Cabrillo High School employee reported that a female teen victim was sexually assaulted off campus.
Vigil was a substitute teacher and coach at the school.
Vigil is charged with statutory rape, arranging to meet with a minor for indecent reasons, and contacting a minor to commit a crime. His bail amount was set at $100,000.
The LBPD believes there may be more victims out there. Anyone with information on the inquiry should call the detectives at 562-570-7321.
