Indiana Homicide Probe Underway Following Lafayette Man Discovered Shot In Gary

A Lafayette man was discovered dead from apparent gunshot wounds near Gary on Saturday morning, prompting a homicide investigation involving various agencies.

Around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, the Lake County Coroner’s Office summoned officials to the 400 block of East 21st Place. A coroner’s investigator declared Antwan Tyler Levell Williams, 27, dead at 8:12 a.m. Williams was a resident of Lafayette, Indiana.

The preliminary cause of death has been identified as gunshot wounds, and the manner of death has been deemed homicide. A forensic autopsy is set for Monday, July 28, at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point.

The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force and the Gary Police Department are among the agencies working with the inquiry. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced as of Sunday.

Authorities have not disclosed any other information about the incident or its suspected purpose.
