Fentanyl And Cocaine Discovered After Ocala Man Allegedly Flees Traffic Stop On Foot

An Ocala man who was tasered by a deputy while allegedly attempting to flee a traffic stop is now facing additional drug possession charges after fentanyl and cocaine were discovered inside his vehicle.

According to the arrest record, on Friday, July 18, at around 11:45 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office officer noticed a driver, later identified as 32-year-old Quintin Fitzgerald Holt, Jr., who was not wearing a seatbelt.

The deputy reported that Holt’s car, a Buick sedan, turned southbound onto NW Gainesville Road from U.S. Highway 316. The deputy caught up with the car and attempted a traffic stop around the 7600 block of NW Gainesville Road.

Holt allegedly continued driving before coming to a stop in the 6800 block of NW Gainesville Road. The deputy approached Holt, who appeared “irritated and nervous” when handing over his driver’s license, according to the report.

When the deputy went to the MCSO patrol vehicle to verify Holt’s driver’s license, Holt allegedly exited the car, glanced around, and then “suddenly took off on foot.” According to the investigation, the deputy chased Holt and used an agency-issued Taser to strike him. He was taken into custody without additional incident.

Holt allegedly told the officer that he fled from the traffic encounter because a warrant had been issued. According to the complaint, Holt had an ongoing Citrus County warrant for violating his probation on many drug possession convictions.

During a check of Holt’s car, the officer allegedly discovered a sandwich baggie with “multiple rocks” that field-tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. The material weighed 2.5 grams, according to the report.

Despite having read his Miranda rights, Holt refused to communicate with the deputy.

Holt was arrested and taken into Marion County Jail, where he is presently jailed without bond. He is charged with fentanyl possession, cocaine possession, and nonviolent resistance to an officer.

According to jail records, Holt is set to appear in court on Tuesday, August 19, at 9 a.m.
