ICE apprehended Mexican National In Pennsylvania With Outstanding Rape Warrant

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended a 48-year-old Mexican national with an outstanding rape warrant in Malvern on Thursday, officials said.

ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations, the IRS, and the ATF, arrested Silvestre Herrera-Vasquez on July 28. Authorities said that Herrera-Vasquez arrived in the United States at an unknown time and had previously faced arrest under various names.

In 2011, he was arrested in Philadelphia using the name “Alex Acosta” for retail theft and eventually convicted and fined. On January 10, 2014, the Philadelphia Police Department issued an arrest warrant under the alias “Marcos Garcia-Reyes” in connection with a strong-arm rape.

Herrera-Vasquez will be processed for expedited removal and will stay in detention while removal proceedings are underway, according to ICE officials.
