Child shot with unattended AK-47; St. Louis County man Detained and charged

A St. Louis County man has been charged after a child was shot with an unattended firearm on Thursday.

Jarez Wilson has been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, which poses a significant risk.

According to court documents, the charges stem from a shooting on July 31. Wilson placed a loaded AK-47 in a suitcase on the couch, according to the documents.

According to the affidavit, a youngster in the family began to play with the gun, causing the weapon to fire accidentally.

The child’s brother was shot in the abdomen and transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at the time of publication.

Wilson is currently being held for $150,000 in cash only, with no 10% bond.
