A deadly incident in North Phoenix left one woman dead and a 47-year-old man arrested, as reported by ABC15 and confirmed by local police. The tragedy happened early Friday morning in a home near 40th Street and Bell Road.
Phoenix police discovered Alma Victoria Suchilt, 45, with several gunshot wounds after responding to allegations of a shooting around 6:00 a.m. She was taken to the hospital and eventually died. Jonathan Llamas Cisneros, the suspect, was apprehended far from the crime scene in a joint operation including the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Border Patrol, and Arizona Department of Transportation.
As the investigation continued, additional information concerning the incident was scarce. Meanwhile, FOX 10 Phoenix gave neighborhood insights, putting light on the situation around the residence. Neighbors noticed unusual activity at the property, claiming many cameras, tinfoil covering doors and windows, and an incident in which a guy allegedly brandished a firearm at a dog walker.
“It’s calm and pleasant around here. You are aware that we are not always in close proximity.” But very friendly…we wave at each other,” Jamie, an 11-year Phoenix native, told FOX 10 Phoenix. His previous interactions with the suspect’s home raised red signals, but the news of the shooting was welcomed with shock and sadness, albeit not full surprise. “It’s obviously concerning, being that it’s right there, not too far from where my house is, but there are some people that are a little nuts, and there are some neighbors that sometimes, even though it’s a great neighborhood, you always have that one,” added the politician.
The community is waiting for answers because the police have not revealed the identity of the victim and suspect, as well as the likely motive. Homicide detectives are still working the case, piecing together the events that led up to the fatal shooting. The arrest over an hour away in Gila Bend following the event has generated issues that remain unanswered at this time, with authorities expecting to reveal additional information in coming days.
