A victim discovered dead inside an apartment with a gunshot wound on Monday was a teen girl, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Authorities initially identified the victim as a woman in her twenties, but a Thursday update revealed that the victim is 15-year-old Kyelonna Meya Smiley.

Officers responded to reports of a deceased body at 77th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard around 9:40 a.m. They discovered Smiley with a gunshot wound.
She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of her remains.
