The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that Nunez-Meza was discovered to be unlawfully present in the country on or about February 2, 2025, in Hinds County after being detained for burglary. Prosecutors stated he has been deported from the United States several times and was convicted of illegal entry on August 21, 2012.

A federal grand jury indicted Nunez-Meza on February 20, 2025, and he pleaded guilty on May 2, 2025.

In the second instance, Mario Armando Crisostomo-Crisostomo, 27, of Guatemala, received a four-month prison sentence on August 1, 2025.

According to court filings, Crisostomo-Crisostomo was discovered to be unlawfully present in the country by law enforcement agents on or around April 28, 2025, during a traffic stop in Leake County while driving without a license or insurance. Prosecutors asserted that they had previously removed Crisostomo-Crisostomo from the United States in 2018 following his conviction for illegal entry in the Southern District of Texas.

The federal grand jury indicted Crisostomo-Crisostomo on May 6, 2025.
