A Wildwood man apprehended last year as a result of a traffic collision has been sent to jail.
Aaron Joseph Taylor, 45, was placed on probation in February after being convicted of driving under the influence on June 15, 2024. On that day, he was involved in a car accident in Fruitland Park near the Miller Boulevard and North Dixie Avenue crossroads. He walked away from the accident to a neighboring Circle K at 100 W Miller Blvd., where an officer discovered him with bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol on his breath.
According to an arrest record from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Taylor’s residence at 5035 CR 125A in Wildwood on Monday evening after receiving a tip about a warrant for his arrest. Dispatch confirmed that he had an ongoing Lake County warrant, according to the report.
The woman who opened the door told the deputies Taylor was home and invited them inside. According to the report, they found Taylor in the bedroom where the woman had claimed he would be and arrested him right away.
Taylor was charged with violating probation and taken to the Sumter County Detention Center. He was eventually released to Lake County.
