A Laurel woman was taken into custody and charged with defrauding the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program of over $70,000.
According to inspectors from the Mississippi Department of Human Services, 44-year-old Yadera Cabellero failed to accurately report her family’s income and composition.
MDHS submitted the issue to Jones County District Attorney Brad Thompson, whose office obtained an indictment against Cabellero on June 24.
Cabellero was apprehended by deputies from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department on July 10th. On July 11, she bonded out of the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
