Aren’t Finals Stressful??
November 16, 2017
This time in the trimester is honestly one of the most stressful times in a students life. Finals are a huge part of overall grades and it feels like if you don’t ace this test, you can say goodbye to that good grade. I’m going to give you some tips to help with that overload of stress.
First off what causes stress? It can be different for each person on what causes your stress but I know for a lot of people it is caused by all of things that they have to do in the future. One tip that I have found very helpful is to be present and in the moment. People spend a lot of their time worrying about what is going to happen in the future. I find that if you focus on all the good that is happening around you, like how pretty the leaves look or how good your mom’s home cooked meal is. Simple little things that are not hard to focus on but it is crazy how in the moment it can make you feel.
Next one is a harder one to follow but managing your time is gonna reduce later stress. During finals all you can seem to think about is how many tests you have to study for or that huge final project that is due at the end of the week. Senior Brinli Robins says, ” Yes I get stressed out but the best way to deal with it is to keep on top of things and your life will be a lot easier.” If you can make a schedule that has you studying a little bit at a time you will be less stressed and you will most likely do better on the test. Cramming all of the information in the night before is going to hurt your brain and you most likely will not remember what you studied.
Last but not least is to remember that everything will always work out. If you don’t get an A on that test you are not going die. It doesn’t mean that you won’t get accepted to college. Your grade on this test will not determine the rest of your life. So remember to chill and not panic when you don’t get the grade you wanted on the test. It’s easier said than done but I know with some focus and concentration you can do it.
Finals are a hard and can really cause some real stress but the time will pass and soon you will find yourself thinking how funny it was that you were so stressed about something so small. Remember to take care of yourself first and then take care of all of other things life throws at you.
