Extreme Heat Warnings continue in force for metro Phoenix through Tuesday, with high temperatures ranging from 110 to 112 degrees. First Alert Weather Days have also been announced.
By Wednesday, temperatures will begin to rise as rainfall makes its way into Arizona.
The upper-level weather pattern remained unusual in the middle of August. This year, we haven’t seen a characteristic monsoon flow build in the valley. And if we do receive any rain later this week, it will be in an unusual fashion.
A trough of low pressure coming down from the Pacific Northwest will assist in bringing moisture into Arizona late this week, increasing the odds of storms, particularly in the mountains. The monsoon is not known for its low temperatures.
More than halfway through the monsoon, one wonders if 2025 will be another “non-soon.” There is a 48-hour window for rain in the Valley, although it is predicted to be light. After that window, Arizona will dry out quickly, and temperatures will rise.
