DC Man Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison For Having Stolen Glock As Previously Convicted Felon

A Washington man will serve nearly six years in prison for unlawfully possessing a stolen firearm while under supervision for a previous assault conviction, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Lamaas Lowery-Bey, 28, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release on Tuesday after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon on April 18.

Prosecutors said the charge resulted from a September 2023 incident in which cops observed Lowery-Bey taking a black semi-automatic weapon from his pants in the 1900 block of Southeast 18th Street. The gun’s magazine looked to be enlarged.

According to court filings, Metropolitan Police Department officers executed a search warrant at Lowery-Bey’s Fairlawn house on Oct. 4, 2023, and recovered a stolen .40 caliber Glock semi-automatic pistol with an extended clip stashed behind a canvas painting above a bathroom toilet.

The gun, which was loaded with 29 bullets, also included a “switch” that, if activated, might have caused it to fire like a machine gun.

Lowery-Bey has been detained since his arrest in November 2024. He had previous convictions for attempted assault with a dangerous weapon, handgun possession, and felony contempt stemming from a domestic violence incident in 2019.
