Local Volleyball Coach And Elementary School Teacher Charged With Rape, Trafficking And Assault

A local elementary school teacher who also coaches volleyball is facing numerous charges, including rape, trafficking, and sexual assault.

Pennsylvania State Police announced on Friday that they had apprehended Jared Lampus, 50, of Sarver, in Buffalo Township, Butler County.

According to troopers, Lampus coaches for the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association and teaches at Buffalo Elementary.

According to police, Lampus had sexual contact with a victim between 2023 and 2025. The victim was 16 when the relationship began.

Troopers also stated that the relationship involved various authorities in Butler, Armstrong, and Allegheny counties.

He is being held at the Butler County Jail.

Police are urging anyone with information about Lampus’ allegations to call 724-543-2011 and reference PSP Incident # PA25-966621.

The Freeport Area School District released a statement regarding the event, saying:

“The Freeport Area School District has been notified that one of its elementary teachers is the subject of a law enforcement investigation. At this time, the School District does not have complete information regarding the circumstances involved. The safety of our students is the highest priority of the Freeport Area School District. Accordingly, the teacher involved has been placed on leave pending further information or the outcome of the investigation.”
