Police detained a man outside Westgate Elementary School at 9:31 p.m. on various domestic abuse offenses, as well as obstruction and resisting arrest.
According to a Kennewick Police Department social media post, officers initially responded to an assault reported on South Conway Place at about 9:31 p.m. on Sunday. After police arrived, Jayson Castenada, 43, fled the scene.
According to police, Castenada broke a domestic violence (DV) no contact order, beat the victim, and threatened his life.
K9 teams responded to assist in the search for Castenada, who was later found riding a bike near Westgate Elementary School. Police claimed he was attempting to return to the victim’s house.
Castenada was charged with criminal order violation DV, residential burglary DV, felony harassment DV, fourth-degree assault DV, impeding a public official, and resisting arrest.
