2 Men Posing As Police Shot And Killed By Homeowner, Authorities Say

A Texas homeowner fatally shot two masked men late Friday after they pretended to be officers serving a warrant and opened fire on his home, according to police.

Officer C. Jones of the Houston Police Department told Fox News Digital that the department responded to reports of gunfire in the city’s southeast about midnight.

The suspects were wearing bulletproof vests marked “police,” but there were no patrol cars or flashing lights, which raised the homeowner’s suspicions, according to authorities. According to Fox 26 Houston, the two men were also wearing face masks and badges around their necks.

“They became suspicious because they have a Ring camera and the suspects were stating they had a warrant, but it’s just two people, and they’re masked up and no police cars, no lights or anything like that,” Lt. Khan told Fox 26.

Police claimed the men fired into the residence before the inhabitants opened fire, killing both, according to the local station. According to the publication, authorities arrived and attempted CPR on the guys, but they were pronounced dead at the spot.

Fox 26 reported that the homeowners were unhurt. Police have not published the identity of the two men, and the investigation is still ongoing.
