Millions of AT&T customers can now submit claims as part of a $177 million legal settlement stemming from two major data breaches. Each affected customer could receive up to $7,500 in compensation.
The first breach, disclosed in March 2024, compromised the personal details of 73 million current and former AT&T account holders, including birth dates and Social Security numbers, after the data appeared on the dark web.

The second breach, announced in July 2024, occurred when hackers illegally accessed AT&T data from a third-party cloud platform. This attack exposed call and text records for nearly all AT&T cellular customers.
Both incidents triggered multiple lawsuits in state and federal courts nationwide. These cases were later combined into two class-action lawsuits. On August 4, after a federal judge approved the agreement, AT&T’s settlement administrator confirmed a proposed $177 million settlement, allocating $149 million to the first settlement class and $28 million to the second.
The settlement still requires court approval. According to the settlement website, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas will hold the final approval hearing on December 3, 2025. Until then, affected AT&T customers can submit claims for compensation.
How do I know if I am eligible?
AT&T customers whose data was compromised in either or both data breaches qualify to file a claim. The settlement website states that email notices are being sent to eligible customers from the domain [email protected]. The settlement administrator is Kroll Settlement Administration.

How do I file a claim?
To claim part of the settlement, affected AT&T customers must complete the claim form online by November 18, 2025. Alternatively, you can mail the form to:

Mailed forms must be postmarked by November 18.
As the settlement website notes, filing a claim means you waive your right to sue AT&T.
How much will I get?
Customers affected by the March 2024 breach can receive up to $5,000, covering losses that occurred in 2019 or later, according to the settlement website. Those impacted by the July 2024 breach are eligible for up to $2,500 for losses occurring on or after April 14, 2024, the settlement administrator said.
In both cases, customers must provide documentation proving that their losses are directly linked to the AT&T data breaches. Acceptable proof includes receipts or other third-party documents showing the costs incurred, rather than documents prepared by the claimant.
If your information was involved in both breaches, you could be eligible for up to $7,500, placing you in what the settlement administration calls the overlap settlement class.
When could I get a payment?
Payments won’t happen immediately. Even if the court approves the settlement at the December 3 hearing, appeals could delay the process. Additionally, processing all claim forms takes time. The settlement site advises: “Please be patient.”
