A man will serve 15 years in prison for hiding in a USPS worker’s mail truck and attempting to sexually assault her on Chicago’s Southwest Side in October 2022.
Cesar Ramirez pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping charges on Monday.
According to police, Ramirez met a letter carrier at a Little Village gas station in the 2800 block of South Pulaski Road.
After leaving the station, he allegedly hid in her mail truck in the parking lot, waited for her to enter, and then hijacked it. As she tried to flee, he grabbed her by the shirt and attempted to rape.
The letter carrier escaped, and her relatives assisted authorities in tracking down Ramirez.
Ramirez is a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal record, including previous convictions for house invasion and criminal sexual assault. The postal carrier received treatment for wounds and bruises.
