Woman Dead Following Maryland Collision Involving Stolen Vehicle With Juveniles Inside

A woman inside a car with her 2-year-old child was killed Tuesday in a crash in Landover, Maryland, involving a stolen vehicle with four juveniles inside , according to law enforcement officials.

According to 7News, the crash occurred between Sheriff Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when a stolen vehicle crossed a red light and collided with another vehicle.

Officials stated the mother died at the scene, but her two-year-old child survived.

The suspect vehicle included four young guys, three of whom were injured and transferred to a nearby hospital. The Seat Pleasant Police Department reports that all four kids are currently in police custody.

“The Seat Pleasant Police Department reported a stolen vehicle,” stated interim Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader.

Nader claimed that authorities discovered the stolen vehicle through plate readers and briefly pursued it before being called off.

“What they were trying to do was keep eyes on it until we got the helicopter in the air that could follow it,” according to Nader.

On the first day of school in Prince George’s County, County Executive Aisha Braveboy was present and called for accountability for minors.

“Today is just a very sad day in Prince George’s County,” Braveboy explained. “Young folks have to attend school. They must be focused on their learning, education, and future. When they take their eyes off that, they get into situations like this.”

Tara Jackson, State’s Attorney, stated that justice will be served.

“Instead of celebrating our children, we’re talking about a life that was lost,” Jackson told the crowd. “We will charge for any infractions of the law we see… We have to keep our young people accountable. If we don’t, catastrophes like today’s will continue to occur.
