2 Men Apprehended In Waldorf Armed Robbery; Deputies Recover Stolen Gun And 2 Pounds Of Cannabis

On August 25, at approximately 7:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of Bannister Circle and Hamilton Place. The initial investigation found that the victim was selling cannabis when the suspects approached, produced a firearm, and stole the drug.

The suspects also forced the victim to transfer money to their account via a mobile payment app before fleeing the area. The police K-9 unit and other responding officers arrived and thoroughly searched the scene.

One suspect, Cedric Tyrone Ford, 21, of Washington, D.C., was caught following a brief foot chase. Ford was discovered in possession of a stolen semi-automatic weapon and more than two pounds of cannabis. A second suspect, Cartiz Antonio Young, 27, of Waldorf, arrived at the scene shortly after and was detained without incident. The recovered firearm was confirmed to have been reported stolen through another agency. Both suspects were taken to the Charles County Detention Center.

Ford, who is forbidden from possessing a firearm, was charged with robbery, weapons violations, drug violations, probation violations, and other offenses. He is currently being held without a bond.

Young was charged with robbery and is currently being jailed without bond. The inquiry into the cannabis is ongoing.
