535 detained during DUI checkpoints in Pennsylvania

State police report more than 500 DUI arrests were made during Labor Day weekend.

Pennsylvania State Police have revealed the findings of their annual Labor Day weekend crash and enforcement totals.

From August 29 to September 1, PSP investigated 747 crashes, resulting in 129 injuries and six fatalities. Impaired driving played a contributing role in 64 of those crashes, including two fatalities.

Troopers detained 535 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, issuing 24,182 citations.

DUI violations can result in a $300 fine and six months on probation, or penalties of up to $5,000 and five years in prison.
