A woman was detained on Tuesday after her 4-year-old son was discovered alone in a parking lot in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the boy was discovered alone at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 18000 block of Northwest 68th Avenue.
Deputies said the family resides on the second floor of a nearby apartment building, and on Tuesday afternoon, Argen Garcia, 37, left her kid alone in the apartment while she went to pick up her daughter from school.
According to the complaint, the victim opened the front door and walked into the parking lot.
According to deputies, Garcia returned home and realized that her son was not in their apartment.
Deputies say a maintenance worker discovered the youngster in the center of the parking lot and notified MDSO.
The report states that detectives apprehended Garcia and censored her statement from the publicly available record.
They detained her on a charge of child neglect without causing significant physical harm.
Garcia was still being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Wednesday afternoon. Online jail records indicate that her bond is still pending.
