A Central Florida man was recently arrested for driving 107 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The 24-year-old man was detained after being stopped for driving 107 mph on Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven, which is a 55-mile-per-hour zone.

A Polk County Sheriff’s Office officer pulled over a gray Chevy Silverado pickup vehicle driven by Winter Haven resident Nicholas Ker Bedard. The truck had been going east on Cypress Gardens Boulevard, near Lake Ruby Road.
During the traffic stop, Bedard told the deputy that he was unaware of his speeding; however, he contradicted this by stating that he was driving fast because he wanted to go home after being awake for twelve hours straight and feeling tired.
Bedard was arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail. He was charged with dangerous excessive speed and reckless driving.
The deputy noted that Bedard had an extensive driving history, including driving 105 MPH in a posted 60 MPH zone in Polk County in 2022, as well as being jailed and having his license suspended for refusing to submit to a breath test in St. Lucie County. His license was reinstated a few weeks ago, on August 1st, according to local law enforcement.
