According to authorities, after being charged 14 times for driving with a suspended or revoked license, a York woman caused a crash that severely injured a motorcycle rider on her 15th offense.
According to criminal records, Priscilla Nicole Velazquez Otero, 33, of South Penn Street, is charged with causing a crash on August 16 in which she struck a motorcyclist who had a brain bleed.
Velazquez Otero faces three traffic charges, including driving with a revoked or suspended license. On Monday, she posted $50,000 in bail and was released.
Velazquez Otero is due for a preliminary hearing on September 16 and did not have a lawyer on her docket as of Monday.
According to the affidavit, Lancaster police were dispatched to South Lime and Dauphin streets, where they discovered the motorcycle rider bleeding from the head. Officers retrieved camera evidence from the Lancaster Safety Coalition and found Velazquez Otero in a 2018 Ford Explorer.
According to prosecution documents, Velazquez Otero is seen in the video running past a stop sign and colliding with a motorcycle before fleeing. She was caught on video a few blocks away assessing the front of her car for damage before driving away.
On September 3, Velazquez Otero was charged by the police. The injured motorcyclist’s condition has not been updated by police.
After pleading guilty, Velazquez Otero completed two month-long house detention sentences for driving with a suspended or revoked license in April and June 2022.
