A man allegedly in possession of nearly 8 lbs of meth on a train from Los Angeles to Chicago was stopped and taken into custody in Kansas City.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri reported on Wednesday, September 10, that Josue Sabillon, 40, has been federally indicted for allegedly attempting to smuggle several kilograms of meth through Kansas City.
According to law enforcement officials, Sabillon was a passenger on a train traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago on Friday, September 5. A canine trained to identify illegal substances detected the duffel bag in his possession.
Investigators stated that they searched the suitcase and discovered over 8 pounds (3.57 kilograms) of methamphetamine inside. They also found many identification papers relating to Sabillon.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Kansas City Police Department, and the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force all arrested him as a result of the incident.
A hearing is scheduled to be held soon. No other information has been shared.
