Winter Haven Man Apprehended For Allegedly Pointing Gun At Man Over Ex-girlfriend

Demetrius Antonio Walls, 39, of Winter Haven, was apprehended and booked into the Polk County Jail on Tuesday in connection with an alleged armed disturbance that occurred late Monday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Walls is suspected of being involved in a fight at a Citgo on Dundee Road. A disagreement over a shared romantic interest allegedly caused the incident.

The victim, who had known Walls for several years, was about to leave the store when Walls allegedly pulled up, pointed a revolver at him, and threatened to murder him. The victim swiftly withdrew inside the business, where he contacted 911, and Walls departed the scene.

Authorities suspect the victim was dating Walls’ ex-girlfriend, which prompted the threat.

Around midnight on Tuesday, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office spotted and detained Walls. He was brought to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Walls remains in Polk County Jail.
