Florida Man Arrested For Multi-state And $400,000 Car Dealership Scam

It’s 2025. If there is a means to defraud individuals of their hard-earned money, they will do it. For example, a Florida man was arrested by Orlando police for running an extensive scam aimed at vehicle dealerships and insurance companies.

Over the course of several years, the Floridian set up multiple fictitious firms and scammed multiple dealerships in a number of states.

Orlando, Florida, police arrested a man for a $400,000 fraud scheme involving car dealerships

After years of investigation, police in Orlando, Florida, arrested Michael Hummel. Hummel’s crime? The individual is accused of running schemes involving vehicle dealerships and insurance firms in several states.

According to WFTV 9, Hummel’s scam involved making fictitious purchases from car dealerships. According to the arrest documents, Hummel also used insurance companies in his schemes, which totaled roughly $400,000 in fraudulent purchases.

Hummel, too, had experienced this before. According to law enforcement, the inquiry into Hummel’s criminal acts began in May 2022. Hummel allegedly used his scams to purchase at least 18 autos.

Now, more than three years later, Hummel faces major consequences for scamming vehicle dealerships and insurance companies and utilizing bogus corporations. Police have charged the Florida man with multiple charges of fraudulent use of personal identifying information, scheme to defraud, and first-degree grand theft.

It’s also more frequent than you may realize. Criminals utilize fraudulent or stolen identities to make purchases and steal from car dealerships. Fake dealerships, on the other hand, frequently employ false postings to defraud prospective buyers out of thousands of dollars.
