Two Maryland men were detained Thursday morning after Anne Arundel County police officers uncovered firearms, drugs, and cash during a traffic check.
On May 29, at about 10:30 a.m., cops stopped a black Lexus in the 7400 block of Fort Smallwood Road. During the stop, officers claim they saw suspected drugs in plain view inside the vehicle.
They detained the driver and front passenger. The driver was found with a .45 caliber Glock handgun, while the front passenger floorboard contained a 10mm Glock.
In addition to the guns, officers seized around 23 grams of suspected marijuana, 186 grams of suspected codeine, one alprazolam tablet, and nine individually packaged THC vape pens.
Police also seized $2,016 in cash and a second loaded magazine from the driver.
The suspects, 23-year-old Donald Amechi C. Igwebuike Jr. of Silver Spring and 25-year-old Dawda Kairaba Jawara of Columbia, were apprehended on the scene without incident.
Anne Arundel County Police have not provided more information regarding the charges or anticipated court appearances.
