Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit

Jackson Cole, Movie Specialist

Jojo Rabbit was a phenomenal film, not only did the director (Taika Waititi) make himself known as the next big thing in Hollywood, everyone gave an amazing performance in this movie too. Jojo Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis) and his bond with his best friend, Yorki (Archie Yates), had me laughing and crying within 5 minutes of each other. Their friendship was very moving, showing a friendship that anyone can relate with. Rosie Betzler (Scarlett Johanson) gave a moving performance as a single mother looking after her Nazi-obssessed 10 year old son Jojo. There were multiple “WOW” moments in this film. After I watched it for the first time, I kind of sat there in ahh and turned it back on and watched it again, back-to-back, and there wasn’t a single moment in watching it the second time that I was bored. It was such a good movie, Oscar worthy performances from pretty much the whole cast, laugh out loud funny, irreverent and slapstick, and a touching element that anyone could relate to. The story between 10 year old Jojo and his mother Rosie moved me to tears. I consider this one of the best movies of this year, maybe decade. There isn’t anything quite like it.
