A 52-year-old fugitive wanted for forcible rape in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, was apprehended without incident on Tuesday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies arrested Scotty Lee Benton after following a tip that he was on East Main Street.
According to a PCSO report, deputies were notified at approximately 2:43 p.m. on Tuesday that Benton was in the area. A warrant for his arrest was issued for forceful rape.
Upon arriving at the specified location, deputies discovered Benton sitting on a park bench. He was apprehended peacefully and arrested on the active warrant.
Benton is now being imprisoned at the Polk County Jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania. He will be charged with the alleged crime in Clearfield County.
