A Quiet Place

Jackson Cole, Writer

With everything that’s been going on lately I thought what better movie to do then a post-apocalyptic thriller, and what movie fits that category? A Quiet Place. It is a modern-horror-masterpiece, considered the best horror movie of 2018. This almost silent film builds up its suspense through video edits and cinematography. This movie proves that a PG-13 scary film can truly leave you quivering and uneasy. John Krasinksi justified himself as a legit horror director, not just a dry-humoured actor. He also gave a great performance as Lee Abott, a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Evelyn Abott (Emily Blunt) try to protect and provide for their family from the apocalypse and the devastation brought on by blind creatures that have acute hearing. The phenomenal Golden Globe nominated score composed by Marco Beltrami, creates an eerie feeling throughout the whole movie, sometimes giving you the realization that maybe everything is ok, maybe the Abott family has nothing to worry about, then within minutes it changes drastically. This movie was fantastic. For only having 90 lines of dialogue, it held my attention throughout the entire film.
