Mississippi Couple Accused Of Stealing Over $59K In Medicaid Funds Through Louisiana Health Department

The attorney general’s office said Friday that a Mississippi couple had been detained on allegations that they stole government benefits after filing fake public records.

The Louisiana Department of Health stated that Johnathan Fore, 51, and Janice Fore, 53, falsely claimed to live in Louisiana while obtaining Medicaid benefits. According to the attorney general, the two went to Mississippi around three years before the theft was discovered.

According to the government, the total amount lost is more than $59,000.

The two were detained in Magnolia, Mississippi, on Tuesday and transported to Louisiana on Thursday. They were placed into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on allegations of government benefits fraud and falsifying public documents. The court date was not immediately known.

According to court documents in Livingston Parish, Johnathan Fore pled no contest to charges in connection with Brendan Harrell’s death during a fight in 2019. Deputies reported at the time that a disagreement between the Fores and Harrell resulted in Johnathan Fore striking Harrell with a vehicle. Information about incarceration was not immediately accessible.
