Former Crane Girls Basketball Coach Sentenced To Three Years In Jail

Roy “Stub” Travis is a former high school girls basketball and football coach from Crane Union High School in eastern Oregon. Travis pleaded guilty in June 2025 to sexual abuse of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Travis was indicted in April 2024 on various offenses, including sexual abuse and providing alcohol to a minor, with allegations including a female student-athlete. In June 2025, he pled guilty to reduced charges of sexual abuse and providing alcohol to a minor. Travis was sentenced to three years in jail on September 5, 2025, with parole supervision. He also has to register as a sex offender and is permanently prohibited from coaching.

Travis coached girls basketball at Crane for 28 seasons, finishing with a 570-154 record and multiple state championships until stepping down in 2023. He also coached football at Crane for 30 years, retiring in 2022 with a 167–61 record. Following the allegations, he resigned from his positions in June 2023.
