Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Ferris Buellers Day Off

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around every once in a while, you could miss it.” This oldie but goody is a classic film that everyone should watch during the end of their highschool days. It really captures the essence of what every teenager wants to be. Ferris Bueller (Matthew Brocerick) was an icon then and just as much 34 years later. Now we all have to admit, we’ve all wanted to do the legendary skip day that Ferris did with his friends, that’s how much this movie has impacted our lives 3 decades into the future. This movie still captures the essential 80’s movies aesthetic we all know and love, but also contributes to the majority of pop culture we see in cinema today. The infamous shower scene is referenced in multiple movies and tv shows today, such as Emma Stones, Easy A. Charlie Sheen’s brief appearance in this film seemed to hint at the fame he would eventually have and accomplish in his acting career. There was some backlash that came from adults during the time, saying that Ferris is just an entitled kid that is influencing teenagers to rebel, and yes this may be true, but if Ferris Bueller’s Day Off wouldn’t have been made, we wouldn’t have had iconic fashion statements, The Beatles hits going back to number one on the charts, and memorable monologues that are quoted all around the world today. Honestly when it comes to cult classics this one is, in my opinion, top 10. A great film for teenagers in isolation thinking that their highschool days are over. Life moves pretty fast, look for the little things and live it up.
