19-Year-Old Detained Driving 120 MPH in Central Florida

A 19-year-old was recently detained in Central Florida for speeding at 120 mph.

A deputy from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office noticed a gray Chevy Impala driving east at a high speed on State Road 60 near Flamingo Drive in Bartow. Initially, the Impala was traveling at 78 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.

According to local law officials, the vehicle began weaving through traffic and reached 120 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

It appeared the driver saw the patrol vehicle, because it began braking suddenly and then pulled to a stop beside an unoccupied building.

The deputy pulled up and made a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Isaiah Garcia, 19, of Haines City.

Isaiah was brought to the Polk County Jail and charged with dangerous excessive speed and reckless driving.
