Disneyland Update
April 28, 2020
In my opinion, the absolute hardest thing about this Coronavirus pandemic outbreak is the fact that Disneyland is closed. Me and my entire extended family are HUGE Disney fans. We go to Disneyland once or twice each year, and we live and breath Disney. We had bought season passes this year and we used them for the first time 2 weeks before Disneyland closed. As you may guess, we were super sad about it.
Disneyland has been suffering horribly during this COVID-19 outbreak. Due to all of their theme parks closing and cruises cancelled, they are losing about 33 million dollars a day, and they even had to take out a loan of 6 billion dollars to stay afloat. This loan is big enough to keep them running for two years with all of their theme parks closed, and their cruise liners docked.
Disneyland’s CEO Bob Iger retired earlier this year after a successful 46 year career, and his position was filled by Bob Chapek. However, he has now been hired back on to help deal with the COVID-19 issues that the company has been facing. He has come out and said that the parks won’t be opening until at least August.
I think it’s safe to say that Disney is going to survive this outbreak, and they have been trying their best to stay above water.
