Seven people were apprehended during a human trafficking operation in Mississippi, according to Attorney General Lynn Fitch (R-Miss.).
Fitch’s Human Trafficking Task Force spearheaded the two-day operation, which took place in Oxford.
The attorney general stated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had placed an immigration detainer on one of the accused pending his release from state charges.
According to Fitch, five victims of human trafficking have been retrieved. They were assisted and treated by Transformation Gardens and Oxford Police Department Victim Advocates.
