After two games last week, the Ridgeline girls’ soccer team is moving on to the semifinal round of the state playoffs. On Thursday, October 22nd, the Riverhawks will face off against the Pineview Panthers. The game will take place at 7 pm at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

On Saturday, October 17th, the Ridgeline team played on their home field against the Mountain Crest Mustangs. The rival schools had played each other twice this season, prior to this game. Each school had won one game against each other during region, but in this final battle, the Riverhawks came out on top. The final score was 2-1. At the beginning of the championship tournament, the Riverhawks held the #3 spot in the state, while the Mustangs were placed at #11.

Previous to this, on Wednesday, October 14th, the second championship round took place. The Hawks beat Cedar High School, ending the game with a score of 6-1. This was the highest scoring game in the second round of the state tournament by far. Cedar was seeded at #14, and Ridgeline was seeded at #3. Ridgeline showed some impressive skill, scoring 4 goals within the first 25 minutes of the game. One particularly notable player was Oakley Rasmussen, who scored 3 times throughout the course of the game.

The other games during the quarterfinal round went as follows. Ogden beat Skyview with a score of 2-0. Crimson Cliffs beat Snow Canyon at 2-1. And finally, most surprisingly, Pineview took the win over Green Canyon (1-1). Green Canyon had been seeded at #2 in the state, while Pineview was placed at #10, making this loss quite an unexpected one.

The semifinal round will feature Ogden vs Crimson Cliffs and Ridgeline vs Pineview. The winners of this round will play each other for the top spot in the state on October 23rd.
