Local Father Faces Charges Following Confessing To Sending Young Son To School With Marijuana

Daivon Richard Sims, a local father, is facing significant charges after allegedly placing marijuana in his son’s school backpack.

The placing is on September 16 at Woodlawn Elementary School.

Sims, who is the parent of a child in fifth grade, allegedly created a substantial risk to the health and safety of his son by violating a duty of care. Marijuana was discovered on the school floor and in the child’s backpack.

The student informed the school that his father had hidden marijuana in his bag. Sims admitted to the school that he was responsible for the incident.

As a result, the child has been suspended for a maximum of ten days and faces expulsion. Sims is charged with child endangerment.
