Ridgeline Swim Team
November 8, 2021
Ashley Thayne is a student at Ridgeline High School, she is 17 years old and lives in Nibley, Utah. She enjoys spending her time with her friends, family, shopping, and swimming. Ashley
has been on the Ridgeline Swim Team all four years of high school and she really enjoys it. While she has attended all four years of the swim team, Ashley has made many friends and great opportunities have been achieved. She thinks that swimming is a fun and effective way to relieve stress. Swimming requires quickness, agility, flexibility, balance, and coordination, and most importantly a lot of effort. Ashleys swimming goals this year are being able to be the best captain possible and getting faster times on her swimming events. Overall, she thinks that swimming has taught her to stay active and motivated throughout the years.
One of Ashley’s favorite swim meets she has gone to was taken place in Saint George, Utah. The reasoning behind this being her favorite meet is because she loved going down on the charter bus and the warm weather. Staying the night with the team was also one of Ashley’s favorite things that happened in Saint George because she states that it felt like a “giant sleepover.” When Ashley woke up the morning of the Saint George meet, she felt positive energy inside of her and had confidence in her races that day. In conclusion, Ashey was right. She achieved one of her personal best times while swimming there.
For the upcoming season, Ashley has many goals that she expects out of herself and the team. That being said, she wants herself and the team to win region and state championships this year. A quote that keeps Ashley motivated is “work to be better, not perfect.” This has kept her to stay focused and concentrated while she’s in the pool.
