The oldest organized sport in North America, lacrosse has been around for years starting off as a Native American game called stickball. The first time lacrosse became an organized sport was in Canada in the early 17th century. This is the Ridgeline lacrosse team’s 2nd year of being a sanctioned sport. Ridgeline lacrosse is ranked 3rd in Utah division 4A with a 9 game win and 2 game loss. Tyson Mckee a senior said “We have had a great first half of the season and are looking forward to continuing our good play for the second half of the season in an effort to win state.”
On May 4 the boys lacrosse team played against Skyview for a very competitive and stressful game. When the two teams played against each other at the beginning of the season, Skyview won by one point in overtime. Ridgeline and Skyview were neck to neck, each other only one point ahead of the other the entire game. As the time on the scoreboard ended both teams were tied at 13. Both teams ran off the field to prepare for sudden death overtime. Ridgeline won the toss and was able to attack their home goal. Both teams were desperately trying to get the ball on the offense side to score. As the first half came to a close with only 20 seconds left and neither of the teams able to score. Ashton Macfarlane was able to get the ball to run down the field and take a shot hitting the top left corner of the net. Resulting in Ridgeline winning 14 to 13.
