An arrest has been made in connection with a body discovered inside a burned car at a South Los Angeles tow yard.
On September 9, investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit were performing a follow-up at a tow yard on the 1900 block of West Gage Avenue in South Los Angeles as part of a missing person investigation.
During their investigation, officers discovered a deceased person in the trunk of a car.
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division and Homicide Special Section took up the investigation.
On September 16, search warrants were served at many places. On the same day, Sandra Romo Diaz, 52, was arrested for murder.
Diaz was booked into a Los Angeles Police Department jail. On September 18, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Diaz with one count of murder. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday for a hearing to decide whether she has sufficient evidence to face trial.
The body recovered inside the car has yet to be recognized. No information was revealed about how the deceased died or how authorities linked Diaz to the killing.
