RHS’s Baseball Season
May 25, 2022
Ridgeline’s Baseball team has been doing really well this season. Noah Sim, a senior on the baseball team, said, “We have new coaches and a better program/culture than we did last year”. The team placed third in region for baseball 4A teams. The team had stats of 17-11 (wins to losses).
The dugout during games is a very energizing and restless place to be. When games are being played, the players in the dugout cheer for the ones that are currently playing. One of the most noticeable things about Ridgeline’s baseball team is that everyone is friends and they help make each other better players. Cade Smith, a senior on the team, said, “I’ve gained new friends and it has taught me how to work hard”. You will constantly see coaches give tips for the players as they go in and out of the game and even the senior boys giving the younger ones advice. As a team, they have fun while also learning skills like hard work, patience, and they also gain physical strength.
On Friday the 13th, the last game of the season, Ridgeline lost to Hurricane 2-6. Noah Sim said the turning point of the game was, “When they hit a 2 run home run to make the game 5 to 3 and we didn’t do well offensively the rest of the game”. While it is a bummer that the team didn’t win the last game, they still had a very fun season. One of the best things that happened for the baseball team was the brand new home field. The field was finished about a third of the way through the season and when the team used it for the first time they loved it. Noah said, “I think we easily have the best field in the region and one of, if not the best, in the state”.
