Apple Days 2022

Nearly all towns have their own annual celebrations, and River Heights Utah, though small by some standards, is no exception. This year River Heights residents, along with their friends and family, held the main yearly celebration on Saturday August 27, 2022.

The festivities actually began a week before on Friday the 19th and Saturday the twentieth, which both held the tennis tournament. Wednesday the 24th was the Family Bike Night where families walked and rode bikes to several locations in River Heights. On Friday night there were snacks and the movie “The Apple Dumpling Gang” was played at the park.

Saturday started out in the morning with the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Runs, which were followed by the kids bike rodeo and parade. Then later in the day, people set up chairs on their front lawns and watched the Apple Days grand parade go through River Heights. Kids eagerly waited for the candy thrown from the cars and floats driving through.

After the parade, many people made their way to Heber Olsen Park where the main festivities and activities take place every year.

“The best part was probably all of the activities” said Riley Cascio, a River Heights Youth Ambassador and Sophomore at Ridgeline. “They have improved from last year.” This year’s wide array of activities included things such as inflatable bounce houses, a climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, body bubbles, nine square, and gaga ball.

The park hosted several food truck vendors. While he enjoyed the pizza from one of the vendors, Junior at Ridgeline Cailen Ames, still said that “there should have been more food and booths, but it was overall well planned”.

The military band that plays at the park every year also made a return as a source of entertainment for the people attending. This year, unusually, the regular raffle drawings were not held, which typically included things like gift baskets, bikes, scooters, gift cards, and other miscellaneous prizes. The paragliding aerial prize drop, scheduled at 6:30, did not happen until 7:30. River Heights residents Cailen and Riley both agree that River Heights’s 2022 Apple Days was a very successful, well organized, and well attended event.
