6 detained in WNY in child exploitation sting

Six men are facing charges of sexually exploiting children.

The New York State Police, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Town of Lancaster Police Department, carried out an operation to target individuals engaging in child exploitation online.

The operation, which lasted several days in Clarence and Lancaster, culminated in the arrest of six defendants accused of child exploitation.

Investigators claim they were able to infiltrate internet sites where these crimes are frequently committed. Investigators used advanced cyber methods to identify individuals allegedly attempting to exploit children online and scheduled in-person meetings with them.

The six individuals were detained and charged with a variety of charges.

All of the accused were processed and committed to the Erie County Holding Center without bail until their arraignments. Authorities stated that additional investigations will be conducted.
