Book Club!

Allie Williams

At the beginning of this year, Makenna Peterson (sophomore) started a new club in order to bring book lovers together. Ridgeline High School’s first official Book Club meets monthly to discuss books and have treats.

The members of the Book Club are all loving the opportunity to share their love of books with other kids at Ridgeline. Jerzy Jensen is a freshman, and, when asked about her opinions on the Book Club, she said, “I love the people. They are so much fun!” She talked about how, even though she doesn’t always finish the books, it is still fun to go and discuss them with the group.

Mrs. Odd, the librarian at Ridgeline, is the staff member sponsoring the Book Club. She says that she loves the Book Club because of the environment it brings into the library. She says there is “so much energy from all of the students” and she is reminded every time they come in that people at Ridgeline love the library. Mrs Odd wants to thank the English department for all  their help in making the Book Club manageable. She said without them it wouldn’t be possible for the Book Club to exist. The English department donates the funds for all of the books available for checkout by members of the Book Club and everyone at Ridgeline. The presidency selects multiple titles for the group to read every month, so funding the Book Club is not easy or cheap.

Mrs. Odd would love more people to join the club, especially more guys. She says, “It is definitely a girl-dominated club but everyone is welcome!” All a student has to do is check out one of the books the club is reading from the library, and they will get an invitation to come to the next meeting.
