Police Respond Late Monday Night

According to the Omaha Police Department, officers were dispatched to the residence about 11:15 p.m. on reports of an altercation. Paramedics from the Omaha Fire Department took Jackson to Nebraska Medical Center with lifesaving measures in place, but he died from his injuries.

The 14-year-old suspect was arrested on accusations of second-degree murder and criminal weapon usage. Due to the suspect’s age, authorities have not disclosed his identity.

Neighbors Heard Arguing Moments Before the Attack

Neighbor Carly Frolio, who lives next door, claimed Jackson’s residents had only moved in a few weeks before the attack.

Frolio reported that she and her husband heard a car alarm and shouting outside shortly after 11 p.m. “We could hear people yelling, and then suddenly it just stopped,” she remembered. Shortly after, the street was filled with police cars, and she witnessed the removal of someone on a stretcher and the handcuffing of two others.

Police said many individuals from the home were transported to headquarters for questioning, but there is no ongoing threat to the public.

A Father Remembered for His “Good Heart”

Monica McMillian, Jackson’s longtime friend and ex-girlfriend, characterized him as a caring father and protective sibling who had faced immense adversity throughout his life.

Jackson, the oldest of nine siblings from Macon, Mississippi, raised his family after losing his grandmother, mother, and older sister, who had been kidnapped and killed years before.

“He had a good heart,” McMillian said. “It’s sad to see someone trying to live right and their life get taken away from their kids — for nothing, for senseless crimes.”

Moved to Omaha for a Better Life

McMillian stated that Jackson moved to Omaha several years ago to find steady work and provide for his four children after being laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. He worked in landscaping and moving services while remaining close to McMillian’s family, which was his only extended support system in Nebraska.

Jackson recently returned to Mississippi to celebrate his eldest daughter CeCe’s high school graduation, named after his late sister Christina.

“He was a great father, a great brother, a great person,” McMillian said. “He didn’t deserve what happened to him.”

Ongoing Investigation

This is the 18th homicide in Omaha in 2025, compared to 16 at this time last year and 19 in 2023. Police have not revealed information on what caused the stabbing, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Omaha Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 402-444-5656 or make an anonymous tip through Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP, omahacrimestoppers.org, or the P3 Tips app. Tipsters may be eligible for a monetary award.
