According to Chicago police bulletins, Lira-Hernandez is the individual who attacked and critically injured a woman inside the Bubbleland laundromat at 2249 North Milwaukee Avenue on October 15, 2023, around 6 p.m. He wasn’t apprehended until almost six months later.

A CPD bulletin was distributed to police almost immediately following the stabbing. It named Lira-Hernandez by name and stated that the 25-year-old victim was the mother of his children. A source shared the message with CWBChicago, and it contained photographs of him cradling a child.

According to the paper, the couple were newly arrived Venezuelan migrants staying at O’Hare International Airport, which hosted hundreds of migrants at the time. The alert claimed that an argument “over domestic-related circumstances” led to the woman’s “numerous” stabbings. It also featured a photograph of a weapon that resembled a fillet knife with a large handle.

Police said “multiple citizens” witnessed Lira-Hernandez flee the scene and attempt to conceal herself. Officers established a perimeter and called in a canine squad, but he escaped that night.

Judge Gillespie sentenced Lira-Hernandez to ten years for attempted murder and seven years for domestic violence. His parole date has not been determined.
