12-year-old Texas Boy Comes Home From School To Find Family And Furniture Vanished

A Texas couple is facing charges for allegedly leaving a 12-year-old boy, who returned home from school to find their apartment completely empty.

Copperas Cove police responded to a call on Friday after the boy went to a neighbor’s home. Officers determined that the boy’s mother, Erica Renee Sanders, and her boyfriend, Keven Dwayne Adams, had seemingly moved out while the child was in school. The apartment was discovered absolutely empty.

The couple was contacted, and they initially claimed the boy’s uncle was due to pick him up, which the uncle disputed. An arrest affidavit stated that Adams “complained at length” about the 12-year-old during the interrogation. The pair also allegedly refused to offer a new address to child protective services.

According to police records, it took five and a half hours from the moment the boy discovered the abandonment until he, the couple, and police were able to communicate.

Sanders and Adams were both arrested on allegations of abandoning or endangering a child without intending to return.
