The Orange County Sheriff’s Office tracked down a Colombian South American theft group in Central Florida after it targeted Asian business owners in the region.
According to deputies, the group was first recognized during a large burglary in Hillsborough County.
“(Hillsborough County deputies) tracked the group to Orange and Osceola counties, where our teams collaborated to bring down this crew,” the release reads.
According to investigators, thieves spent weeks casing homes and businesses around Central Florida, frequently disguised as landscapers to spy on victims and trace their routines.
However, on Monday, two suspects broke into an Orange County residence while an OCSO drone watched and recorded the incident, deputies said.
“A coordinated takedown followed in Osceola County, and all five suspects were arrested without incident,” the release continues.
According to deputies, the defendants are charged with burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief, and all suspects have ICE detainers at the jail.
